Fine Morning
August of 2012 I took a 6-day trip from Chimney Rock, Nebraska to Devil’s Gate, Wyoming, retracing the original Oregon-California-Mormon Pioneer Trail as best I could. I brought along several sculptures and a copy of the diary my great-great-grandfather (James Bellamy Farmer) wrote as he traveled this trail in 1853.
This long-term video project is an imagined historical narrative, using original diary excerpts, but featuring two women as protagonists. I’ve shot additional footage over the years and am slowly working on putting everything together. Here are a few stills from this work-in-progress.
